Take An Inner Journey Workshop

and
live your
life purpose!

Congratulations! You’ve already come a long way on your inner journey of living your life purpose.

  • You identified your core life values - one of the most important clues to your life purpose - and explored how they impact every aspect of your life.
  • You learned about your personal boundaries - what they are, how to strengthen them, and how to use them to honor and support your life values.
  • You uncovered the clues you created for yourself and distilled them into the essence of your life purpose.

The next step is to transform all the mental, emotional, and spiritual work you’ve done up to this point into physical reality. It’s not going to do you or anyone else much good if all you do is think about living your life purpose. Remember... your life purpose is the work you chose to do this lifetime in order to be of service to others. You can only be of service by moving into action and actually doing the work of your life purpose.

Now it’s time for you to begin the process of bringing the essence of your life purpose from your inner world into your outer world by creating your plan. Whether you’re creating a plan for your journey into living your life purpose or a trip you’ve chosen for a vacation, the process is the same:

  • First you do the research. For your vacation this might mean looking at brochures, consulting a travel agent, or perusing travel magazines. For the journey of living your life purpose, the research is to identify the clues you left for yourself, such as your life values and what you loved to do as a child.
  • Next, based on the findings of your research, you decide where you want to go and what you want to do. For your inner journey, this is the process of distilling the clues into the essence of your life purpose.
  • Then you plan how you’re going to get there. This is where you are now in the process of living your life purpose.
  • Finally, you step into action and go on your trip. This part of your inner journey comes a bit later.

Every journey - whether a business trip, a vacation, or the journey of living your life purpose - is a unique experience. There are many variables, some of which are chosen and some which are completely unexpected. The route you take, the vehicles you choose, the time you spend at each stop en route, and what you do when you arrive, are just some of the variables that are a part of traveling. You may choose a direct route for part of your journey. At other times you may want a route that allows you to meander along and wander wherever you feel drawn.

With so many routes to get to any given destination, how do you know which one is the best for you? During this chapter you’ll explore several different planning systems and tools for your use as you travel on your journey of living your life purpose.

The Map Is Not the Territory

It may all look good on paper, but when the time comes for you to actually travel on your chosen path, your map may not look anything like the territory. There may be detours, washouts, and potholes that don’t show up on your map. Any of these can instantly rearrange your carefully planned journey. As you continue past these challenges you’ll find that they offer opportunities for you to gain greater knowledge about your journey. Just as an unexpected turn of events during a trip can lead to opportunities for learning more about the people and places where you’re traveling, the unexpected experiences you’ll have during your life purpose journey offer much wisdom to smooth your journey ahead.

Flexibility is a key concept to keep in mind, not only as you create your plans but afterward, as you’re actually experiencing the implementation of your plans. Know that no matter how careful you are in creating your plans and how detailed they may be, life happens. We’ll go into this further later when we delve into what stops you. For now, simply understand that making a plan is important and that it’s just as important to make allowances for the unexpected.
