life purpose!

As you travel along the path toward living your life purpose, there will be many times when you’ll want - and need - support. You might want comfort, encouragement, brainstorming, or someone to help with the paperwork. Whatever form of support you want or need, it’s best to have a system in place before you need it.

The focus of this chapter is just that - setting up your personal support system so that whenever and wherever you would like support, you can instantly receive it.

A solid support system will keep you moving forward on your path, helping you around the detours, over the bumps, and through the chuckholes.

Even if you have a personal support system now, during this chapter you’ll refine the quality and quantity of your system and the types of support that you get from it. When you’re doing the work of your life purpose, not only do you deserve the best kind of support, you need it. There will be times when your work will be quite challenging, and without a strong support system in place the work will be unnecessarily more difficult. A proper support system can mean the difference between achieving your goal of living your life purpose or being overcome with difficulties and hardships - maybe even to the point of giving up. A strong personal support system guarantees that won’t happen.

As you’ll discover, not everyone you know qualifies for a place in your support system. Further, those who are already in your system may be designated for special types of support. Just as you have friends who seem to fall into certain categories - friends from work, family friends, friends who share a hobby or interest with you - effective support systems are categorized as well. Once you have clarity about what you want and who goes where, you’ll know instantly which of the members of your support system will be the most appropriate choices for you to call on to receive exactly the support you want and need.

Asking for Support: The Fine Art of Delegation

There’s no rule or law that says you have to do it all by yourself. You’re not the only person on this planet, you know. There are others who are just waiting for you to ask them to assist you, to help you lighten your load as you travel along your path to living your life purpose.

Yes, I know, it’s hard to ask for help. There’s your pride to be considered, after all.

Here’s something that may shift your beliefs about asking for help. Take a moment and think back to a time when you helped someone. How did you feel afterward? Your answer is probably something like, “I felt so happy to be able to help them and to do some good” or “It warmed my heart to be able to help them.” Helping other people feels sooooo satisfying and fulfilling. Would you deny your friends and loved ones an opportunity to feel that good about themselves by rejecting their offer of help?

The next time you’re reading a book, this one or another, remember that the book didn’t become reality by one person doing all the work. Anyone who has written a book will tell you that they had many helping hands along the way to get it from being thoughts inside their head to becoming a real book. The author may write the book alone, but after that they have the help of many people such as book designers, publishers, editors, publicists, distributors, all the people who sell the book at the bookstores, plus all their friends and family who put up with them during the process. There isn’t a book in existence that doesn’t have at least one page of acknowledgments from the author, thanking all the people who helped to make the book possible.

So it is with you. Look around. There’s an abundance of people who are willing to help you. Now is not the time to be shy or coy or to diminish yourself or your work. These people were put in your path at a specific time and a specific place so they can assist you. You contracted with most of them before you were birthed onto this planet just so they could help you. Some of them are simply gifts from the Universe. As you journey into living your life purpose you’ll have ample opportunity to have others help you along your path.

Consider this: by allowing others to help you, you may just be helping them to live their life purpose.
